I-Land
Bandwidth Speed Test
*Note: This test will work for dial-up
users, but it may take a few minutes to complete the test
What does this
do? It benchmarks your
download line speed. The test server is located at
I-Land's facility. These tests work to line speeds of about
2000-6000kbps.
What should my download be? This greatly depends
on what kind of connection you have. For example, if you have
a 384kbps burstable to 768kbps down / 128kbps upload DSL connection, you
could see anywhere from 0kbps to 700+kbps down, and 0kbps to
120+kbps up.
How do I test my upload speed? Since this
testing program does not test your upload speed, you will need to
test it in other ways. Probably the best way would be to
upload a file using FTP to your home directory. To use FTP you
will need to download an FTP program and read the programs help file
for more information on how to use it. You can download FTP
programs from our Tucows server at http://tucows.iland.net
Are there other tests I can use? There are many
sites that provide a test of your download, and upload speeds.
But, these tests are not on I-Land's local network, so your
connection speed will be influenced by that sites connectivity.
Below are some links to some other testing sites.

How can I make my connection faster? There are some
"tweaks" that may help your connections performance.
Some of these "tweaks" involve editing your
registry. I-Land Internet Services will not provide support
for systems damaged from modifying your registry. If you would
like more information on this try http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks
Please make sure and read all of the FAQ's about changing your
systems configuration.
What should I do If I have problems? Please contact
